It pioneered the Metroidvania genre which prioritized finding power-ups to return to previously inaccessible areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The story follows Samus Aran on the planet Zebes in an attempt to retrieve a predatory organism known as a Metroid from space pirate with a plan to replicate the organism and use them as biological weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metroid was a critical and commercial success praised for it&#8217;s soundtrack and graphic. It also help coin the term for it&#8217;s type of game Metroidvania. I also should mention the shock of player finding out Samus was a female protagonist.
